BUSINESS
Micropep Technologies, founded in 2016 in Toulouse, France (with a second headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina since 2022), is an ag biotech company developing peptide-based biological crop protection products. Spun out of the LRSV plant research laboratory (CNRS and Toulouse University). In 2025 it announced a multi-year R&D collaboration with Corteva Catalyst, and its lead biofungicide MPD-01 received a "biochemical-like" classification from the US EPA, with regulatory submission targeted for 2026.
BIOTECH INVOLVEMENT
Core agbio biotechnology; micropeptides (short proteins) discovered and produced via advanced biotech for sustainable plant protection. Micropep's platform (Krisalix) uses AI-driven peptide design combined with biology, chemistry, and agronomy screening to identify short (5–20 amino acid) peptides, including antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and microRNA-derived regulatory peptides (miPEPs) that modulate plant gene expression. The products are applied as foliar sprays rather than delivered through engineered organisms.
TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM
AI-driven micropeptide discovery; bioproduction; delivery systems
PRIMARY PRODUCTS
Micropeptide crop protection and biostimulant solutions (including bioherbicides)
