Calysta

Uses a patented fermentation platform to produce single-cell protein ingredients (FeedKind) for aquaculture, livestock, pet, and food applications without arable land. Calysta, founded in 2012 and based in San Mateo, California, produces single-cell protein from methane via gas fermentation using naturally occurring, non-GMO methanotrophic bacteria. The company operates through Calysseo, a joint venture with Adisseo (a subsidiary of China National BlueStar/ChemChina), which built and operates the a commercial-scale SCP facility in Chongqing, China — 20,000 tonnes/year capacity, operational since late 2022. Calysta has also developed Positive Protein for human food applications.
