BUSINESS
String Bio uses methanotrophic bacteria to convert methane gas into single-cell protein, biostimulants, and other value-added products via its patented String Integrated Methane Platform (SIMP). Primary products include PRO-DG (approximately 70% protein ingredient for aquaculture and animal feed) and CleanRise (a methane-derived biostimulant for agriculture, launched in partnership with Grow Indigo). Methane feedstock can be sourced from natural gas, biogas, landfill gas, or flared gas from oil production.
BIOTECH INVOLVEMENT
String Bio uses naturally occurring and engineered methanotrophic bacteria that exclusively utilize methane as their sole carbon source in gas fermentation bioreactors. The platform combines synthetic biology, fermentation process engineering, and downstream chemistry to convert methane into protein biomass and other products.
