StrainX Bioworks is an Indian synthetic biology and precision-fermentation company founded in 2023 by IIT Delhi alumni Akshay Mittal and Alok Malaviya (CTO), headquartered in Bengaluru with a manufacturing facility in Bhopal. The company develops alternative proteins, enzymes, and bioengineered metabolites for food, nutrition, healthcare, agriculture, cosmetics, and materials applications.
BIOTECH INVOLVEMENT
StrainX operates a vertically integrated platform spanning strain engineering, fermentation process development, downstream processing, and industrial scale-up, all built in-house. It reports operational 10,000-litre fermentation capacity with demonstrated repeatable results at that scale, and a modular Bhopal facility designed to scale toward 100,000 litres. Strain engineering and precision fermentation are entirely central.
